According to ESPN Alex Rodriguez has apparently agreed to a 10-year, $275 million deal to return to the New York Yankees.
It seems the deal could pay Rodriguez millions more if he sets the career home-run record,by breaking Barry Bonds’ own.
Rodriguez’s new contract would be larger than the 10-year, $252 million agreement he signed with the Texas Rangers in 2000. As part of that accord, he had the opportunity after the 2007 season to void the last three years and negotiate with any major-league club.
Rodriguez is likely to win his third American League Most Valuable Player award next week after leading baseball with 54 home runs and 156 runs batted in.
