Home run king Barry Bonds has been indicted on federal perjury and obstruction of justice charges.Bonds lied when he told a grand jury in 2003 that he did not knowingly take performance enhancing drugs. The indictment reads in part:

During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes.

Bonds is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in San Francisco on Dec. 7. and could face up to 30 years in jail.
Barry surpassed Aaron’s career home run mark of 755 on Aug. 7, finished the season with 762. A seven-time NL MVP, he also holds the season record with 73 home runs in 2001.
