Serena Williams seems to have joined the heavyweight division of tennis players as she pummels her way towards another tournament victory at the French Open.
Big-boned Serena has never been one to glide lightly across the court, but the extra-short skirts the US superstar has been wearing on the famous courts at Roland Garros this week have shown off the kind of killer thighs more often seen on the women’s wrestling circuit.
But the way she has stormed into the quarter-finals in Paris shows she is not lacking in fitness and stamina.
Her once willowy figure has given way to muscles and bulk, but it’s also served her well, having fought her way to a berth in the last eight.

All power to the big stars of women’s tennis.
Maria Sharapova has also turned heads at the tournament with a fuller frame.

LAS VEGAS — Floyd Mayweather Jr. wanted to give Oscar De La Hoya a beating. He had to settle for just getting a win. Mayweather won one of boxing’s richest fights ever Saturday night by using his superb defensive skills and superior speed to take a 12-round split decision and win the WBC 154-pound title in his first fight at that weight.

The fight was billed as one that would save boxing, and while it didn’t do that, it was an entertaining battle between two proud champions who fought hard from the opening bell through the end of the final round.

The fight ended with the sellout crowd on its feet roaring and two fighters trading punches wildly at the final bell. They then stopped and embraced each other.
